The Quick Family

Johnny Quick gained his access to the Speed Force shortly after the Flash made his first appearance, and tended to operate in Flash’s shadow throughout most of his career, though he kept in costume until the mid-50s. At that point he and his wife, Libby Lawrence settled down from their careers as costumed crimefighters and journalists to run a news department in a television station (Johnny) and write adventure novels (Libby). Toward the end of the decade, their daughter Jesse was born.

Johnny and Libby found that once they settled down, they had very little but their daughter in common. By 1970 they had separated and were divorced a year or two later. Jesse grew up in two parts of the country (California and Virginia) and was trained sporadically by her parents in her emerging powers of super speed and accelerated adrenaline.

In the 1980s, shortly after Johnny Quick and Flash II died fighting the Monitor from Beyond, Jesse and Wally West have an affair. In the 1990s, Jesse and Don Allen have an affair. These are not the only romances for a woman who seems determined to live her life in the (very) fast track. By 2002 the 40ish Jesse Quick has not settled down. There have been rumors of pregnancies, but no children have claimed the Quick name.
